Vintage Carlisle Violin with Case and Bow

Item Details

A vintage Carlisle violin with original case and German bow. James Reynolds Carlisle was an esteemed violin maker born in Ashland, Kentucky in 1886. He worked for the Wurlitzer Company in Cincinnati starting in 1914, where he studied the ‘Betts violin by Stradivari and the ’LeDuc’ violin by Guameri. At one time, nine members of the Cincinnati Symphony played Carlisle violins. This beautiful Carlisle violin is in spruce and maple, and the original case is lined in green velvet. The ebony bow is marked ‘Germany’ and has mother-of-pearl accents.
