Comprehensive 20th Century U.S. Postage Stamp Collection. Lot contains a very large stamp collection housed in two wooden card index cabinets. Seven of the eight total drawers are full of stamps. Stamps are organized and filed in order according to date and Scott number. The drawer labeled ‘Air Mail’ contains Airmail stamps C4 to C139 (1923 to 2006), including C4, C11, C12, C16, C17, and C19. Drawer also contains Revenue, Postage Due, Special Delivery, Parcel Post, Duck Stamps, Wine Revenue Stamps, earlier used singles, and regular issues ranging from Scott 700 to 1000; this range includes the National Parks series (Scott 740 to 749), the 1938 Presidential series (Scott 803 to 833), and the 1940 Famous Americans series. The other six drawers contain regular issues ranging from Scott 1001 to 4116 (1951 to 2006). Some highlights from this range include Scott 1552 (the first self-adhesive stamp), Famous Americans series from 1980, Transportation series from 1981, Scott 2097 Roberto Clemente, Transportation series (Scott 2123 to 2136), Transportation series (Scott 2252 to 2266), the Christopher Columbus series from 1992 (Scott 2624 to 2629), the 1992 Wildflowers series, a lithographed American Music Series from 1994 (Scott 2854 to 2861), and the 1995 American Music series (jazz). All wax envelopes contain singles, plate blocks, or both. Most wax envelopes contain mint and used examples of each Scott number.
