This first edition, first printing two-volume set of Uncle Tom’s Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly by Harriet Beecher Stowe was published by John P. Jewett & Company of Boston in 1852. Bound in BAL binding B brown cloth with blindstamping and gilt accents. First edition, first issue points include lack of printing statement to title pages, stereotype notice on copyright pages; ’’spilt’’ to page 42 of Vol. I, and ’’cathecism’’ to page 74 of Vol. II. All six plates by Hammett Billings (American, 1818–1874) are also included.
