Indonesian Ardiyanto batik scarves are entirely untouched by technology. From the selecting of silk fibers, to the spinning of the yarn, to the handloom weaving and the dying, each step is done by hand by an Indonesian artisan. Each textile takes almost a year to create and passes through the hands of close to 40 different craftsman, some of whom have spent decades mastering their craft. This textile was created with pointillist precision using a narrow copper vessel to draw the dye-resistant liquid onto the fabric. Patterns historically draw inspiration from mythical beasts, tropical foliage and blooms.
