A Rare Indian Silver Spice Box in the Form of a Sitar
Item Details
A rare Indian silver novelty spice box in the form of a sitar with a peacock finial, circa 1900. The workmanship is well done, with elaborate chasing on the body of the instrument at both the top and bottom of the box and the peacock finial is a charming detail. The top of the box is hinged, opening to reveal the hollow body. The edge of the lid on the inside is stamped ‘Silver’.
