A Rookwood Double Handle Vase By Louise Abel Dated 1931
Item Details
A Rookwood double handle vase, dated to the bottom 1931 and signed by the artist Louise Abel. The vase enjoys an expressive and loose glazed illustration showing a kneeling figure with birds on one side and a reclining figure on the opposite side, in the predominant colors blue, brown and turquoise green. The bottom of the flared vase is stamped with the Rookwood logo, the date XXXI and the mold number 6041.
Louise Abel was born in Germany in 1894, she decorated pottery for Rookwood from the mid 1920s – 1940.
