Item Details

An important, contemporary beaded cup and saucer sculpture by Liza Lou (New York, 1969), created in cast polyester, resin and glass beads. The colorful baguette beads completely cover the surface of the sculpture in a red scalloped pattern with a yellow rim and blue handle. The cup is signed (in beads of course) ‘Liza’ at the bottom and the saucer ‘Lou’.

Liza Lou was born in New York (1969) and became known when her room-size, beaded installment Kitchen was exhibited at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, 1996. The project was five years in the making. Since then, she has had solo exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum Kunstpalast, Dusseldorf, Germany. Her beaded creations are included in many private and corporate collections, as well.
