Vintage Eight-Day Dark Cherry Wood Case Clock from Japan

Item Details

A vintage dark cherry wood case clock from Japan. The clock has a curved top, with gilded round trim and side pilasters, along with raised brass triangle accents, and a brass bezeled round glass face and below, a reverse-painted round feature with hand painted yellow roses and pansies on a white background. The ivory patinaed clock face has a horse trademark, and black Roman numerals and skeleton hands. The inside paper backing is marked with ‘Yonewa, Osaka, Japan’ with other information, and Japanese characters to the inside edge and to the back. A polished brass pendulum appears to be a replacement and not original to the clock. A key accompanies the clock.
