Born in 1940 in Columbus, Ohio, Aminah was raised in Poindexter Village, one of the first public housing projects in the United States. She attended programs for children at Columbus College of Art and Design eventually going on to further her studies there after graduating from high school. Her diverse work includes sculptures, paintings on fabric, “RanGonNons,” and books featuring themes related to family, community, civil rights, and the African diaspora. Her work is represented in many private and public collections including The Columbus Museum of Art and The Brooklyn Museum of Art. Ms. Robinson received a 2004 MacArthur Fellowship.
