Remington New Army Model Six Shot Percussion Revolver, Civil War Era, Circa 1861

A circa 1861 Remington New Model Army six shot percussion revolver, Revolver was manufactured by Remington Arms, Ilion, New York, the ‘New Model’ Army revolver was a percussion fired six shooter, .44 caliber. Standard features included octagon barrel, barrel threads are visible, round cylinder with safety notches, cylinder is removed by pulling the cylinder pin forward, iron backstrap is integral with frame, walnut grips, brass trigger guard. The New Model 1861 numbers after about 15,000 following the sequence started with the ‘old’ Model Army. Markings on the barrel are nearly illegible. Barrel is 8 inches.
