Peter Keil Large-Scale Abstract Acrylic Painting
Item Details
Peter Robert Keil (German, born 1942)
Untitled (abstract)
Acrylic on board
Signed to lower right
Provenance
From the collection of Bowen Art Reserve, who purchased the painting from the Peter Keil Foundation in 2020.
Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miró. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
