Louis XVI Style Entry Tripod Table with Marquetry
Item Details
A beautiful Louis XVI style entry table with detailed marquetry wood inlay of a floral vine pattern mixed with instruments. The top is banded by a metal brass edge. The table skirt is adorned with brass medallions set at intervals, offset by recessed areas of a lighter tone wood edged by brass beading. The columnar pedestal base is finished with gilded laurel leaves. The tripod base includes the metal bust of figures and gilded laurel leaves at the whorl feet. Marquetry is the art of creating complex designs using numerous thin pieces of wood which allows furniture makers to make wood inlay look like a ‘painting’.
