J.J. Burns lived and worked in South Oakland for many years where he rented a room in a square white brick building on Ophelia street. He covered the exterior with painted faces and wallpapered the interior with an array of colorful cardboard images. He eventually moved back to Binghamton, New York where he lived in a shack behind his mother’s house and decorated it in the same wild manner.

Condition

- varying degrees of wear throughout paintings, including abrasions, uneven edges, bumped corners, and discolorations.
