Born in White Plains, New York, Edmund Franklin Ward studied at the Art Students League with Thomas Fogarty, Edward Dufner, George Bridgment, and shared a studio with Norman Rockwell. Known for his illustrations, he was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the Guild of Freelance Artists, and the Society of Illustrators. Ward produced illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post, many of which were made for the Alexander Botts and Assistant District Attorney Doowinkle stories.
