This fine driving 1947 Studebaker Commander Regal Deluxe, representing the pinnacle of that year’s Studebaker appointment levels, is one of 10,557 five-passenger coupes distinguished by their famous “starlight” wraparound rear-window treatment. The 1947 Commander line was powered by Studebaker’s 226-cu.in. L-head straight-six. With a compression ratio if 6.5:1 and single-barrel Stromberg carburetion, the engine was rated by the manufacturer at 94 horsepower when new. Three speed on the column with overdrive. Presented with a radio and heater (not tested). One of only 13,299 units made with an original price point of $1,626-$1,747. This car is provided with an inline six cylinder 94 hp engine. This was for Studebaker the ‘First by far, with a postwar car’.

Condition
- nice driver condition. The seller believes this Commander’s engine is original to the car, as the engine number matches the production order and is in excellent running condition. The engine is reported to start and idle without smoke. The seller states that the three-speed manual transmission and overdrive function properly. A moderate gas leak is noted near fuel filter. Lights are noted by seller to all work. Paint was touched up with most being original along with original interior. Currently the battery is weak and there is a fuel line leak near the fuel filter. The car should be towed and thoroughly inspected by a competent mechanic before being considered roadworthy. A few dings and scrapes are present. The car has had paint touch-ups in it’s long life and there is paint peeling on the driver’s side door. The cozy windows are cracked.

- Vehicles will be held on site for no more than 14 days, unless other arrangements have been made at time of purchase. Any vehicle left on premises past the allotted time will incur a storage fee of $50 per week/up to 60 days. After 60 days, the item is forfeited.
- The winning bidder is advised to check with their DMV / BMV to ensure that all necessary paperwork, tags, title transfer, et cetera are complete before the motor vehicle is removed from the premises.
