William Wegman is a famed painter, photographer, and videographer well-known for his surrealist style photography featuring his Weimaraner dogs. He holds a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, and an MA from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Wegman has taught at multiple colleges and institutions across the country. There is a lighthearted and humorous aspect to Wegman’s oeuvre reminiscent of Man Ray, which is apt in his video works for television shows such as Saturday Night Live and Sesame Street, as well as his own videos and films. His work can be found in public collections including the Australian National Gallery, Canberra; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh/Carnegie; F.R.A.C. Limousin, Limoges, France; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art, NY; Whitney Museum of American Art; and Saint Louis Art Museum, St. Louis.
