Peter Keil Watercolor and Ink Wash Painting "The Dog," 1975

Item Details

Peter Robert Keil (German, born 1942)
The Dog, 1975
Watercolor and ink wash painting on paper
Signed and dated to the lower right

Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miró. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
