Florentine painter, Pio Ricci, was born in 1850 during a time of great artistic changes. While Neoclassical, Romantic, and Realist interests evolved throughout Europe, Ricci studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti, Florence. He emerged as a portraitist and genre painter and continued to exhibit his paintings at the Academy throughout his career. His works were highly regarded for their attention to textures and fabrics. Ricci lived and worked in Florence until his passing in 1919. His paintings are collected internationally and most are held in private collections.
