Florida-based Contemporary artist Jeffrey Scott Lewis describes himself as a process-oriented artist as he finds a thrill in exploring a concept and realizing an idea while producing a work of art. After receiving an Associate of Arts degree in 1983, Lewis designed window displays for businesses then worked for Walt Disney World, where he helped design the Animal Kingdom. He continued his education at Florida Gulf Coast University and graduated magna cum laude in 2004.

Much of Lewis’ diverse work has a vibrant colorful presence, some of which recalls the work of Abstract Expressionists Jasper Johns and Hans Hofmann. He states that his intention is to “grab the attention of the passerby”. He works in a variety of mediums, including paintings, sculptures, collages, and lately has pursued photography creating images for photo transfers. Although much of his work brings formalist qualities to light, many of his projects and series are embedded with social commentary, including themes about self-acceptance, identity, and community. Throughout his career, Lewis’ work has been exhibited and collected by multiple institutions, such as the ACT Gallery in Fort Myers, FGCU’s Margaret S. Sugden Welcome Center, and the Lee County Alliance of the Arts among others.
