Dan Sabau was born in Romania and is currently active in Brooklyn, New York. He acquired his formal artistic training at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Sabau is best known for his abstract watercolor portraits that portray subtle and intermittent bursts of color that reflect our human condition. His work is influenced by prominent contemporary artists such as Marlene Dumas, Nicole Eisenman, and Jenny Saville. Sabau’s oeuvre has been exhibited alongside renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Swoon, and Marilyn Minter. He has participated in multiple national and international art venues including NADA, Scope, Switzerland Art Basel, Miami Art Basel, Art Markt, Art on Paper, The Other Art Fair and more.
