Miró was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1893 and received his formal education at the Barcelona École des Beaux-Arts and the Académie Gali. He became friends with Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Ernest Hemingway, Max Ernst, and Paul Klee. Miró was accepted as a Surrealist in Paris with the recognition of some of the greatest artists of our times.
