Cincinnati-based artist Dick Waller is not only an artist but also a principal clarinetist for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. As a musician, he explains that his art is an extension of his love for music. He began painting in 1974 and, using an intuitive process, he refers to his approach as “Free Association Art”. He aims to select harmonious color combinations and titles all of his works “Contrasts” in reference to the Bartok trio for piano, violin, and clarient. Waller has exhibited his work locally at Malton Gallery, the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, and out of state at Red Brick Arts Center in Colorado.
