| Additional Information | Label identifies luthier as Ferdinando Carlo Faversani who built the violin in Treviso, Italy, in 1925. It’s of historical interest that during the 1920s he became involved with the Fascist political movement, even building a violin for Mussolini. During this period, he built a series of violins featuring a skull, symbol of the Fascist movement, in place of the traditional scroll. It’s therefore a possibility that this instrument, built in 1925, was one of these instruments, and the repair to the current peg box indicates that the previous one was removed and replaced. |
