For Ronald D. Newman, painting is similar to music in that it involves an improvisation of elements, relating and correlating formal elements including color, line, and shape. Inspired by spirituality and the natural world, some of his monumental compositions are up to 36 feet in length, and create a mystical and otherworldly effect as their vastness envelops the viewer. As a result, the viewer becomes an active participant when surrounded by his compositions. Some of his influences include astrology, Carl Jung, and symbolism of nature’s elements. Don’t miss the opportunity to add one of these monumental pieces to your collection.

A well-trained artist, Newman was best known for his large-scale and multipanel Impressionistic paintings. Born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, Newman received his art training from many sources, including the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he studied under Joseph C. Fitzpatrick, the Columbus College of Art and Design where he received his BFA in Painting, the Cranbrook Academy of Art focusing on lithography, the Kansas Art Institute and finally the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where he received his MFA in Painting. Newman exhibited at the Waverly Gallery and in solo exhibitions in SoHo when he lived in New York City for five years. He was the owner and director of the Artists’ Workshop in Columbus, Ohio, offering painting workshops, exhibition space, and art supplies. In Columbus, he participated in several solo exhibitions at multiple venues, including the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts and the Springfield Museum of Art.
