Condition
- extensive restoration to painting: painting examined under UV light, scattered inpainting throughout composition, particularly in left half of painting along creased areas of embrittled canvas and in figures of bathers, as well as in creased area to lower right and in figures of Eros and swan in fountain area in right half; painting wax relined and revarnished; punctures to painting with inpainting restoration, notably in foliage of trees near center of painting; repaired areas of loss and tears to canvas with inpainting restoration, particularly around outer edges and especially to lower edge; craquelure, accretions, darkening and yellowing to pigments; uneven painting surface with various textures and indents; discolorations, abrasions, and wear along edges and corners of canvas with pigment loss; actively detaching piece of painted canvas to lower right corner; chips and finish loss throughout frame; painting is not secure in frame.
