A Rare Volume "Indios do Brazil" Vol. II by C. Rondon, 1953

Item Details

A rare volume ‘Idios do Brazil’ Vol. II by Candido Mariano da Silva Rondon, published by the Ministerio da Agriculture in 1953. The book documents Brazilian indigenous populations, some of which were yet undiscovered, by Brazilian military officer Candido Rondon. Candido Rondon was a notable explorer and supporter of the Brazilian natives, becoming the first Director of Brazil’s Indian Protection Bureau. He had constructed a telegraph line through the Amazon, discovered rivers and tribes (several of which had seldom encountered any westerner), and had also joined Theodore Roosevelt on an expedition to explore Brazil’s River of Doubt in 1913. The cloth bound book, written in Portuguese, contains a myriad of interesting photographs. The book is currently not available elsewhere for purchase.
