An 1884 Folio Publication "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner", Illustrated by Dore

Item Details

A lot of ‘The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’, by Samuel Coleridge and illustrated by Gustav Dore. The folio edition was published by Harper & Brothers, New York, 1884 in deep brick red cloth covered boards with blind embossing at the beveled edge, gilt page edges and gilt stamped title and albatross. The book is beautifully illustrated with 38 full page wood engravings by Gustave Dore (French 1832-1883), his imaginative and incredibly detailed images immediately evoking the mysterious world of the Ancient Mariner. An additional copy published a year earlier in 1883 is offered as item 14CIN096-015.

Condition

, to fair. The cover shows wear at the spine, mostly at the head where it is becoming loose. Edges are also nicked and corners bumped. The interior pages are good with some age toning but little to no foxing and the binding is tight.
