Montana expressionist, Waddell is best known for his atmospheric and abstract depictions of cattle and horses. He studied in New York during the early 1960s and was highly influenced by the Abstract Expressionism movement. In 1982, his work was acknowledged by a Corcoran Gallery curator, which lead to enthusiastic reviews in the Washington Post, New York Times, and Newsweek. Many of his paintings are held in established collections such as Dallas Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Denver Museum of Art and others.
