Additional Information | Piece is half of a Bakhtiari tribal storage bag with side seams opened to lay the weaving flat. It features a flat woven back panel and soumak patterned face, with a band of knotted pile in the center that would sit along the lower edge of the bag when folded and finished for use. A band along the upper edge includes slits used for bag closures. |

Condition
- patch and stitched repairs to one end; several holes in weave at one end with loss and fraying weave; areas of exposed foundation; areas with loss of selvedge binding and loose yarn where side seams of bag were opened; snags to pile and weave throughout; distortion with variations in width and depth; loose surface debris; fraying weave and unfinished cut edge to end of flat woven panel, where bag may have been cut from a larger double bag.
