A Rare Set Comprising 10 Volumes "The Masterpieces Of Italian Art", 1886
Item Details
An incredibly rare opportunity presenting all ten volumes of ‘The Masterpieces Of Italian Art’, being a biographical history of art in Italy from the earliest period to the present time, written by Charles Blanc and J. Reed. The Grand Deluxe Remarque Edition in deep red silk folios with satin ties was published as a limited edition of 200 by Gebbi & Co., Philadelphia in 1886, this set is numbered to be #160 on the title cover. Each folio contains approximately ten tipped in clean and crisp photogravures with a descriptive facing plate plus additional text. This set is fabulous, and a sweet provenance is gilt stamped to the front folio cover of section I stating ‘From Mamma To Catherine XMAS, 1891’. Again, it must be stated that this is a fortunate opportunity to have all ten folios offered together.
