A lot of ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ by Samuel Coleridge, illustrated by Gustave Dore. The large red cloth bound folio was published by Harper Brothers, New York in 1877 as the second issue of the first American edition to attract Holiday shoppers. The book is marvelously illustrated with 38 full-page wood engravings by Gustave Dore (French 1832-1883), his imaginative images immediately evoking the mysterious world of the Ancient Mariner. The large folio has beveled boards with the gilt stamped title and albatross on the cover and gilt page edges.

Condition

, the cover shows rub wear at the edges and bumped corners. While the spine is tight, the cloth at the hinge is split. The interior of the book is in good condition with little toning and little to no foxing.
