A first edition oversize folio, ‘The Raven’ by Edgar Allan Poe, illustrated by Gustave Dore and published by Harper Brothers, New York, 1884. The large book is gray cloth bound with gilt page edges and striking gilt decoration illustrating the character encircled by detailed gold wings. The book comprises twenty-six fabulous full page steel engravings by the renowned French illustrator Gustave Dore (1832-1883). The book has been properly stored in a climate controlled environment for many years and there are no inscriptions. Please note that a second copy is available next as item 14CIN096-002.

Condition

, good to fair. The cover in gray cloth shows some age at the rubbed edges, bumped corners, and the joint which is frayed at the head. The interior of the book however is in good condition showing very little toning and almost no foxing.
