Two youth book sets from the 1920s: ‘Boys and Girls Bookshelf: A Practical Plan for Character Building (1920 copyright edition, published by The University Society Inc.’ are filled with fairy tales and folk tales, the adventures of heroes and heroines, animal and nature stories, and an entire volume of poetry presented in eight embossed green hardback covers. ‘Journeys Through Bookland’ by Charles Sylvester (copyright 1922, published by Bellows-Reeve Company’ includes ten volumes in black textured cloth, gilt and blind-stamped decorations on front covers, gilt lettering and decorations on the spines with top edges of pages also gilded. This complete set features a fantastic collection of stories and fables with color illustrations. Two wonderful classic sets!
