Mid-Victorian Imitation Pearl Buckle Locket

Item Details

The Victorian era is categorized into three parts consisting of “Romantic”, “Grand” and “Aesthetic” periods. The “Grand” period is known for its mourning jewelry brought by the loss of Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert in 1861 along with the Queen’s mother, the Duchess of Kent. The loss of the monarchs in the same year brought a somber approach to jewelry with the most notorious pieces associated with the era being dark designs made from jet and onyx.
