Himalayan Tahr Double Mounted Taxidermy Display

Item Details

A stunning and meticulously well-preserved taxidermy mount of a pair of Himalayan Tahr that includes both the male and the female along with a rocky outcrop scenery display. Native to the Himalayas, these wild goats have developed several adaptations that allow them to flourish there. This display features a male Tahr to the front and a female Tahr mounted slightly higher on a rocky outcrop to the back. Note the male has longer, more rounded horns and a shaggier, longer coat than the female, but both Tahr bear the ruddy brown coats of summer that are slightly less dense than their winter coats. Extremely well preserved, these Tahr do not appear to be shedding and have very fine coloration and facial details intact. No available provenance, but they are legally hunted for recreation throughout the Himalayas and where they were introduced in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, South America, and South Africa.
It is believed they were taken in South Africa in the late 1990s.
