- visible tearing, peeling, and loss to the paper along the edges of the artwork, most significantly at the upper right; discoloration and possible water damage to portrait and paper at the lower region of the artwork; toning, scratching, foxing, and accretions to portrait and paper; gaps visible between the bars of the frame at the corners; significant craquelure, chipping, flaking, and loss to the gold-toned gesso veneer of the frame; scratching, scuffing, discoloration, and accretions to frame.
