Noteworthy photojournalist, Arthur Rothstein is perhaps most famous for his photographs of the American Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. In 1935 he was hired as a photographer for the Farm Security Administration by his former Columbia Professor Roy Stryker, where he worked alongside other notable FSA photographers such as Dorothea Lang and Ben Shahn. It was during this time that he shot his most famous piece Fleeing a Dust Storm, which captured a father and son in a dust storm in Cimarron County, Oklahoma. After his time with the FSA, Rothstein went on to work for Look and Parade Magazine during and after the Second World War. His work has been exhibited at numerous institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is held in private collections throughout the world.
