Provenance
Cincinnati patrons Tom and Cathy Crain, board members of the Cincinnati Opera, Worldwatch Institute and Talbert House.

Paul Huet focused on the French landscape studying at the studio of Antoine-Jean Gros. Upon meeting fellow painter Richard Bonnington, the two began working outdoors to paint and draw in nature from life. After becoming established, Huet traveled extensively in Italy, England, Belgium and the Netherlands. He exhibited at the Salon frequently and the Exposition Universelle in 1855 where he won prestigious awards. His work would later serve as an influence to the Barbizon School and the Impressionists.

- a minor horizontal crease to paper across the upper edge; minor droplets to the paper to the lower-left corner and to the upper center; the frame with loss to the corners.
