As a Holocaust survivor, Herta Galton fled the Nazi regime to England in 1938. After the war, she returned to her hometown of Vienna, Austria to study painting at the Vienna Art Academy. By the 1960s, Galton immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in the San Fernando Valley, California. Galton is best known for her textured plaster paintings and woodcuts of abstracted figures and landscapes.
Condition
- glass removed from frame; item held in place to the backing with plastic clips with hinge-mount added to the right for missing clip; minor nicks to the edges of the frame.
