Edward T. Hurley was an accomplished painter, printer, illustrator, and author, best known for his work with the Rookwood Pottery Company and his landscape etchings. Born in Cincinnati, Hurley would later graduate from Xavier University and the Cincinnati Art Academy where he studied under Otto Walter Beck and Frank Duveneck. He was a designer for Rookwood Pottery Company from 1896-1948, creating paintings on both canvas and pottery. Cincinnati scenes had a stronghold on Hurley’s work and were his most prominent subject matter. He was a member of the Cincinnati Society of Etchers, Society of American Etchers the Cincinnati Art Club as well as the Duveneck Society of Painters and Sculptors. His works have been exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the Art Institute of Chicago, The Corcoran Gallery, the St. Louis World’s Fair (1904), and more.

- wear to edges of paper; creasing to lower right corner of paper; three dark stains to upper margin of paper; toning to paper; minor toning to paper.
