Japanese Lacquer Wood Box with Tokugawa Clan Crest, 19th Century

This ornately decorated black and gold lacquer box bears the crest of a prominent Japanese family from the samurai era; the Tokugawa. The box is fitted with brass corner attachments and closures, also featuring ornate floral detailing popular to this time.
