Additional Information | A selection of momentos given to Samuel Marx from renowned artist Al Hirschfeld. Al wrote a note and dated it 11/27/90 on the cover of Artists In Line An Al Hirschfeld Retrospective, he wrote “To a dear old friend Sam Marx” and then drew a line with a hand pointing to his name. There is a handwritten letter to Sam, on his personal letterhead, dated 4/13/87 complimenting Sam on his book A Gaudy Spree, he ends his letter with a line drawn, hand at the end and then his signature. Finally, a typed letter from Al, with a self-portrait drawing instead of a signature; Al is telling Sam about an article in the magazine the American Mercury in which the subject matter is “Main street Hollywood”. In addition, Al also talks about his impending nuptials to Dolly Haas and that they may come out to California for a visit. |
Condition
- conditions vary; the letter with the drawing has tears along the edges and discoloration; there are folds and creases in both letters; the program has edgewear.
