Born in Detroit, Paul Alan Williams was an artist and avid antiques collector who studied at Chadsey, Meinsinger and the Art Center School in Los Angeles. As a color blind artist, his early commercial work was executed in pen and ink before being influenced by the work of European and American Impressionists. His later Impressionist paintings often feature leisurely scenes of women, dogs, and children set in beach scenes, flowering gardens, and cafes. In addition to painting, Williams was also known for restoring early arms, armor, clocks, European furniture, steins, and religious items; he frequented flea markets, often the Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market, in search of his next restoration project or hidden treasure. Throughout his career, he was a member of several artists associations, including the Society of Illustrations and the Society of American Impressionists. His work has been featured in numerous auction record books, and can be found in museums and both corporate and private collections.
