Based in Berlin, Germany, Winston Chmielinski was born in the United States and received his B.A. in dance and philosophy from NYU’s Gallatin School. He continued his education in Paris and Beijing studying art history. His work has received international recognition and has been exhibited internationally in the 2017 Venice Biennale, the Galerie Thomas Fuchs, and Magic Beans, among other art venues. He is known for his expressionistic, vibrant use of color blurring the line between realism and abstraction. Most recently, Chmielinski worked with renowned contemporary artist Ai Weiwei (Chinese, born 1957) on his newly released film Human Flow.
