2001-D American Buffalo Silver Dollar and 1899 Silver Certificate Replica. This set commemorates the Buffalo Nickels of the early 20th Century in conjuncture with the upcoming opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian with a silver dollar which features a right facing Native American to the obverse and left facing American Buffalo to the reverse. The replica 1899 silver certificate features a right facing Native American male in Plains style headdress to the obverse. Designer: James Earle Fraser. Mintage: 227,131. Metal content: 90% Silver, 10% copper. Diameter: 38.1mm. Weight: approximately 26.7 grams. Presented in the original U.S. Mint box which is 9.75″ × 0.5″ × 5’. The coins are not circulated and encapsulated.
