Jessy Zimmer Acrylic Painting "BoJangles," 2020

Item Details

Jessy Zimmer
BoJangles, 2020
Acrylic painting on canvas
Signed to the verso

Jessy Zimmer has enjoyed drawing, painting, and sewing since her youth and hopes to pursue a career in fashion design. This painting features her biggest hen, ‘BoJangles’, who earned her name because she was bullied by her fellow flock mates, and she would take her anger out on Zimmer when she held her. Zimmer endearingly joked that if she kept up her bad attitude she’s be going to BoJangles. She explains, ‘Now she’d grown up, gotten nice and fat, she defends herself against the other mean chickens. I loved her prideful stance that I painted her in, it shows the challenges she’s overcome, and how strong she’s become.’
