Item Details

Drake Pitz
Acceptance, 2020
Acrylic painting on canvas
Unsigned

Drake Pitz is a student at Dixie Heights High School and hopes to study Industrial Design and Graphic Design at the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program. He has been drawing and sketching since the age of three, and has continued to develop a love for art and design. Pitz’s art has become a therapeutic outlet for him, which he produces while listening to 70s rock and 90s boom bap/ RnB.

When describing this painting, he writes, ‘A blue sky with light clouds fills the background, as a young woman is blowing a kiss towards a rose, placed in her hand. Her wrist and upper forearm, along with her hand, is wrapped in vines and thorns from the rose, and wind is blowing in the direction of the kiss, making the petals fly away. This artwork represents the loss of a loved one, but in a happy, endearing manner. I want the viewer to feel loss, yes acceptance, if they knew someone personally, I want this panting to give said viewer a feeling of acceptance, love, and respect the life their personal friend or family member had, and remember them for what they were, not what they would have been.’
