Gionna Bannister is a student at Dixie Heights High School, currently enrolled in Advanced Placement Art, and intends on continuing to pursue art studies. Although she works in paint, she typically prefers to use pencils in her work. This particular painting is based on a photo that Bannister took while on vacation, as she was inspired by the calm water, high clouds, and beautiful rainbow. About this painting, she writes, ‘white clouds billow above the ocean in a deep blue sky. The ocean itself is a light green and blue color with very calm waves and swirling colors. The rainbow is near the middle of the painting and adds another focal point that takes you up into the clouds (since the movement of the clouds takes your eyes right and upward).’
