"Papa" Hemingway Signed First Edition "For Whom the Bell Tolls" with COA, 1940

This signed first edition of For Whom the Bell Tolls was presented by Ernest Hemingway to his friend Georges Duplaix, the translator of Hemingway’s Men Without Women into French. As a sometimes shooting partner of Hemingway and mutual friend of F. Scott Fitzgerald, this volume features to the front pastedown ‘To F. Scott Duplaix/’You shoot well’ and signed ‘Papa,’ a signature that was only used for family and very close friends.
