A Signed Ikki Matsumoto Print of an Owl And Child

A hand colored Ikki Matsumoto signed and numbered print illustrating in fine detail a large owl with a frog and a young gal seated on a toadstool. The print is subtly hand colored and numbered 117/200 in the lower left corner with Ikki Matsumoto’s signature and red stamp in the lower right. Ikki Matsumoto was born in Japan and moved to the United States where he eventually made his way to Ohio to studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy under the renowned wildlife artist Charley Harper. Ikki worked in the advertising field til 1975 when he moved to Sanibel Island to establish himself as a painter and print-maker. In 1985 Ikki was chosen by Fist Lady Nancy Reagan to paint an Easter egg that is now in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Museum. The print is matted under glass and finished in a gold frame.
